Conventional Sponges vs Mesh Sponges
Face and body sponges that are used for cleansing come in two main varieties: conventional sponges and mesh sponges. A conventional sponge is typically made from plastics or natural plant fibers and is similar to sponges used for cleaning around the house. The absorbent fibers soak up soapy water, and as you cleanse, you can release the lather by squeezing the sponge.
Mesh sponges are usually made from plastic netting. Soapy water gets trapped in the tiny openings in the mesh and then is transferred to your skin as you rub the sponge along your body. Conventional and mesh sponges are equally effective at cleansing, so you can choose the type that you feel is more convenient and comfortable to use and get great results.
Sponges that Exfoliate
Exfoliating sponges are used to remove dead skin. Rougher than conventional sponges and mesh sponges, exfoliating sponges create friction and loosen dead tissue as you rub them along your face and body. Then, the water from the tub or shower can rinse the dead skin away. People use exfoliating sponges to help keep their skin smooth and soft. Exfoliation also reduces the risk of blemishes and makes many imperfections less visible. Exfoliating sponges are offered in many different styles, and they are sometimes referred to as scrubbers.
Select the Perfect Sponge
After you have decided which type of sponge is right for you, you can compare the sizes, shapes and colors available in order to select the perfect sponge for your bathing needs. You can also consider whether or not you need a sponge with a hanging loop for drying and storage.
