Rotary vs Foil Shavers
Men's electric shavers can be divided into two basic categories.
Foil shavers feature vibrating blades housed beneath a thin sheet of perforated foil. As you run the shaver across your face, hairs enter the small holes and are trimmed.
Rotary shavers, on the other hand, have rotating blades that are covered by flexible shaving heads with small holes in them. These heads swivel to adjust to the contours of your face and neck.
Most men will prefer one type of shaver to the other, but it often takes some trial and error to figure out the best type of product for you. The feel of these shavers on your skin will be distinctly different because of the variations in their designs. You might prefer a rotary shaver because these products can be used to easily trim hairs growing in different directions. On the other hand, foil shavers may give you a closer shave in less time. Ultimately, the decision will simply come down to your personal preference.
Shaver Features and Accessories
You might find that the electric shavers you are interested in have a number of different special features to consider. Many products include a trimmer accessory that can be used to neatly shorten sideburns or get at hard-to-reach hairs.
Other shavers might have different speeds that help balance efficacy with comfort. Cleaning and maintaining electric shavers will involve different processes depending on the specific model, but many of these products come with a cleaning system that allows you to disinfect the blades quickly and easily after each use.
If portability is your number one concern, most men's electric shavers have rechargeable batteries so that you can use them wherever you go. Many of these batteries are also designed to last for several shaves between charges.
