I didn't have any luck with either of my cats for this product. One cat had it off in 2 minutes flat, the other had it off by the next morning. I think its pretty heavy for a cat to have around their neck, my smaller female cat couldn't move with it on. My larger male cat (12 pounds) could easily walk with it because he is taller but ripped it off fairly easily. The velcrow just doesn't stay that well. I have been using the "tear away" collars forever, and I can continue to use the tear-away collars for a plastic cone but I had to go out and buy a regular collar in order to use this product. Personally, I don't think it makes that big of a difference for that cat, there are pros and cons to both the plastic on the "comfy" cone. The "comfy" cone only really offers comfort, but takes away your cats ability to get up - so i end up having to take off the cone so that my cat can eat. Again, i would NOT recommend this for a smaller cats and shorter cats, its very difficult for them to even move.

I had rescued a dog that just had his leg amputated and he hated the awful plastic one the vet gives you! I got this one and its so comfortable for him, especially since he would be wearing it for a while! easy to put on with velcro!

This cone has been a life saver. It is more comfortable than plastic cones and the cat doesn't mess with it much.

my dog diego has had to wear the comfy cone 24/7 for 4 weeks now and he does great! We only take it off for meals. The only thing for most dogs is that it isn't clear so peripheral vision is cut off but Diego is blind so he doesn't mind. I highly recommend this over the hard plastic cones.

This collar does not seem to have been designed with cats in mind, even though it's marketed for both cats and dogs. Used as is, it was too long and wide for my cat's head. It completely obscured her vision, she kept running into walls and knocking things over, and she couldn't lie down because of the bulk and stiffness of the material. Folding it back, as per the instructions, just made it wider and more of an obstruction.

That said, I was able to make it work for my cat by cutting 1.5 inches off the end of the cone so that it ended about 2 inches past the end of her nose, and was the same approximate width as her whiskers. With this adjustment, she's able to eat, navigate, and rest comfortably while still being restricted from licking her irritated skin. It probably makes the cone less durable in the long run, but it's only going to be used for a short period of time while her skin heals, so for that it meets our needs.

I got this for my cat, and it seems to be too small for him, despite following the measurement chart.

I'm also concerned that he will have trouble breathing due to the puffy material crowding his head. Though I'm sure it's less comfortable, I think a stiffer collar would be better.

After having ear surgery, our cat had to wear an e-collar for three weeks. The vet supplied us with a hard plastic cone that prevented the cat from getting adequate food and water without considerable effort. This Comfy Cone was more comfortable to the cat because it wasn't rigid. He was able to eat and drink much more effectively, yet the collar still performed it's function of not allowing the cat to reach the suture site with his paws.

The Comfy Cone was also MUCH easier to put on and take off than the rigid cone, which involved weaving a plastic strip in and out of slots (all the while, trying to keep the cat still). Just a couple of velcro strips on the Comfy Cone made it quick and easy to apply.

The only drawback: after adjusting to our cat's neck size, a couple of velcro strips were left exposed and he sometimes got "stuck" to the carpet, and his efforts to free himself resulted in his breakaway collar opening and him wriggling out of the cone as well.
