After many years in braces as an adult I developed jaw problems and needed a night brace due to misalignment and bruxism. My insurance wouldn't cover a new brace even though the old one was10 years old. Another one would cost over $400! I thought this may work and bought it. I found the instuctions easy to follow and molded my own brace. I did have to cut off the back ends because I have a small jaw but this is addressed in the instructions too. I brought it to my dentist and he said it was nearly as good as what he would have done. I am very happy with this product. I do have a suggestion - offer it in two different arch sizes. Thanks for a great product and saving me lots of money!

I have used other boil-to-fit ight guards before with no problems. I followed the directions very carefully with this one. However, the resulting guard had virtually no lip to hold it in place. Figuring I hadn't pressed hard enough, I re-boiled and tried again, making extra effort to press my teeth into the material to form a lip. My result was the same. I am absolutely clueless how people get this to work, as I would have to spend the night with my teeth tightly pressed together to get this to stay in.

Comments about The Doctor's NightGuard Advanced Comfort Dental Protector, 1 ea:

The dental guard was difficult to handle. When I put it in the boiling water, it kept flipping over and sticking to the side of the pot. It was a good snug fit, but it doesn't feel comfortable. It causes a lot of drooling and I end up having to remove it in the middle of the night.

It was a waste of money for me.

I initially had a problem fitting this guard. It fell out of my mouth the first night, so I re-did the fitting procedure. What a difference! I can snap it in place and it doesn't move at night. I am a serious grinder...to the point I believe I destroyed at least one molar, and damaged two others. This protector works as advertised. Just be sure to follow the fitting directions.

They changed the design of the product from the one I bought 6 months ago. There is less material at the front of the mouth guard, making it difficult to fit and a less secure when you wear it.

Comments about The Doctor's NightGuard Advanced Comfort Dental Protector, 1 ea:

I am such a serious teeth grinder that I have FRACTURED MY MOLARS TWICE. You know you have a fractured molar when you inhale through your mouth and you get excruciating pain from the cold air rushing by the exposed nerve in the cracks in your teeth. After the first fracture, my dentist fitted me with a night guard. It was so flimsy that I chewed through it in no time and fractured my tooth again. While I was waiting for the second professional guard I bought 'The Doctor's CLASSIC Nightguard'. It brought instant relief but it was pretty uncomfortable... I also have an inherited mouth issue that I press my tongue against my upper teeth to swallow (most people press against lower teeth). So I refitted it on my lower teeth and it was much better. The dentist's guard showed up but I realized the drugstore guard did a better job of protecting my teeth. Then I saw the 'advanced comfort guard' and gave that a try. It is MUCH more comfortable than the 'classic' and much more effective for me than the dentist's guard (which btw was $500+).
I'm sorry that some customers had trouble fitting them as I had no trouble at all... although it may be that I'm fitting it to my lower jaw. If I have any criticisms, it would be that the front arch of hard plastic could be even smaller to make it more comfortable. And the price is bargain compared to the extreme pain and expense of repairing a fractured tooth.

This is a nuisance to try to get a proper fit. After no luck on the first attempt I reheated and retried as per the directions, There's no way I can sleep with this thing in my mouth. Forget asking for a free second unit to try again. I don't have the patience.

I'm someone who is unable to follow illustrations and/or directions & somehow I did this. My first one I had to try to fit twice because I was so nervous about directions. After my permanent implant caps were put on this week, the other one I had for about 8 months had to be replaced. Voila...it fitted perfectly the lst try.
Since having implants and using this device, my gums are terrific, my teeth are fine and even if I need a new one twice annually (and I don't know that I will), the cost is manageable and should I need a cap done or something changes in my mouth, I don't have to shake & shiver about buying a new one or the cost involved. The Advanced looks less bulky than the Classic, which I have not tried. My perio actually recommended the product and it works.
Hope it works for you. I use mine every night & I love it.

Comments about The Doctor's NightGuard Advanced Comfort Dental Protector, 1 ea:

I am one of those people who has the expensive dentist custom made night guards. I have had one for several years. Mine was misplaced and I bought this as a temporary replacement. I had done that once before, but the other boil and bite guards were bulky so I decided to try this one.

I read the instructions very carefully three times, prepped all my equipment ahead of time, and got ready with my timer to go through this process. I followed the instructions to the letter. The result was completely useless. I followed the "if you don't get a good fit the first time" instructions and attempted to fit it again. It was a bit better, but still pretty useless. I tried using this and it gagged me in the middle of the night and I had to spit it out.

I see from reviews that a few people have had a good fit from this, that was not my experience. I hope to locate my custom night guard soon, because none is better than this one. One reviewer said their custom guard did not fit well, one fitting tip that worked for me, my dentist cut the palate out of my night guard and once she did that it fit much better.
