I've tried a couple of other c-rings that look similar to this one and they ONLY had the option of the auto-changing function which I found VERY annoying...
You are just getting into things and you are SO CLOSE and then - it changes what it's doing and messes you up - how frustrating!!
I was recommended this one by a friend because she said it has two options - the auto-changing function AND a 'steady-on' function.
This was awesome - you can use the auto-changing function to get teased into a frenzy THEN switch back to the steady-on function and hit the finish line like a champ.

it's ok, but just doesn't have much power to it. the only speeds are on or pulse. if you are used to using a decent toy or egg, this will not likely do you much good. on the upside, it's comfortable for him and the red light it produces was good for a laugh!
