Have 3 young boys under 5 years old. Thought this would be a great item to take their temperature, however it is grossly inaccurate. Never varied much outside of 97 degrees for anyone if when they had a fever.

Got this and was very excited to use it. Never has given an accurate temperature reading. At half this price, it would still be too much. Also, definately not good for a young child that is awake. Impossible to use if the child is not sleeping.

Got the item and was eager to use it, but to find out that it is not accurate and takes a while to calibrate and doesn't even give a close reading to a regular thermometer. Complete waste of $$$. Do not waste your money on this item.

I like that I don't have to put it directly on the skin, however, it can be quite tricky getting the red light to be in the correct position to take an accurate temp. Definitely not easy to use on yourself or an infant that is awake--the little ones like the red light and think it's a toy. Best to have another adult take your temp with it or stand in front of a mirror to use it on yourself.
