I have always liked Tiger Balm salve for soothing sore muscles or my arthritic knees, especially after cycling. These patches, though, are awesome, because they're less messy than salve and they contain the three medicines found individually in similar products. They have menthol, camphor, and capsicum. Look at the ingredients in most, if not all, similar products (Ben Gay Capsacin, IcyHot, etc.), and you'll see that each of these products only has one active ingredient.

The patches seem to take a while to activate--I imagine they are intended for longer uses. And, when I'm extremely sore, I will turn to Theragesic Ultra. It only contains menthol but lots of it. It burns the hell out of my skin to use, so that's only for extreme cases.

I bruised my tail bone and I get pain not only in the bruised area but shooting down both legs. I use the Tiger balm patches on my tail bone and on each calf. They feel good, but almost immediately start to wrinkle up, flap and eventually fall off. I tape them on using medical tape. Then they work fine. The relief doesn't seem to last as long as other heat patches I've tried, but as I've only previously used heat patches on my shoulders, I can't be sure about it. I'm going to try something else before I go back to the Tiger Balm patches. I would recommend the product with these caveats.

Comments about Tiger Balm Pain Relieving Patch, 5 ea:

Really works on overworked sore muscles. Over 62 and it still helps relieve neck pain and muscle pain. Don't like the paste form as much because the bottle is too small to get my fingers in to remove some for application. Otherwise it work great.

Comments about Tiger Balm Pain Relieving Patch, 5 ea:

I bought Tiger balm because it has been around a long time but I did not like the product. I have many places to apply, the first place I could not place on, I had trouble making it stick so I chose another place. It would not stick. The next day I tryed another but I also had trouble making it stick - later I found it on the floor. So I threw away the rest unused patches. I also found them to be 'cold' and not sooling. I would not buy them again.

Comments about Tiger Balm Pain Relieving Patch, 5 ea:

The patches work better than the Tiger Balm ointment and do not stain clothing like the ointment. They come in two sizes - I prefer the smaller size. There is a cellophane-like seal on each patch, and it is difficult to remove with arthritic fingers. Also, you have to be careful the patch remains flat, because the glue is strong and the patch may stick together. Directions say not to get the patch wet, but if you forget and get in the shower with the patch still on your skin, it is the devil to remove after getting wet. For all the trouble though, the pain relief is worth it.

I was first introduced to Tiger Balm by an acupuncturist over 15 years ago.The patches are much more convenient than the salves and creams. They work quickly, stay in place and don't leave any residue. I use them to relieve muscle spasms/pain in my back and legs and am always amazed at how quickly they work. I just wish there were more patches in each box!

My Tiger Balm patch is the perfect size for my lower back and stays on so well that I forget it's there. I get more relief from it than any of the hot/cold patches I've tried. I love them and won't use anything else now.
