Tom's is one of very few toothpastes to offer an unsweetened toothpaste that also provides the anticavity control your dentist and you are concerned about. I recognize that there are many folks that prefer not to have the flouride but this toothpaste offers those of us can't stand the taste of artificial sweeteners, or that just don't eat sweets and don't need to start their day that way, a product that fills their needs. Although I was especially found of the now unavailable Gingermint flavor, this toothpaste offers a good taste while not being an overpowering choice. I have found that Tom's Spearmint was too strong flavored. This flavor is well balanced between strong enough to leave your breath fresh without burning your tongue. I highly recommend this product and prefer the Peppermint and Cinnamint flavors. VS Most Liked Negative Review Baking soda is actually ok! Well, we survived and now I see that Tom's had a baking soda toothpaste to try. Not bad! I like the hint of peppermint that comes out as it lathers across your teeth. I have been a Crest kid, and I think I am going to be happy making the switch over to Tom's. REVIEWS Reviewed by 52 customers Sort by Displaying reviews 1-10 Previous | Next » Pros

Best Uses Comments about Tom's of Maine Cavity Protection with Baking Soda Natural Fluoride Toothpaste, Peppermint, 5.5 oz: Tom's of Maine would like you to believe they are a small Mom & Pop outfit that cares about you and animals (judging from the "not tested on animals" note on their packaging). They are actually owned by Colgate-Palmolive and, from my experience, don't care one whit about animals. When my dog acidentally licked some of this toothpaste, I called them to inquire what percentage of the toothpaste is xylitol, an EXTREMELY toxic, deadly poison to dogs. Even though many toothpastes list the percentage of xylitol they contain, Tom's of Maine's response to me was "That's proprietary information. My supervisor says take your dog to the vet". PERIOD. So because they would not divulge this "trade secret", I had to rush my dog to the vet in a panic for expensive tests to make sure he didn't die of extreme hypoglycemia & liver failure. Luckily my dog was fine. I, however, am incensed that they would not work with me at all & were completely devoid of concern or compassion. I have been a long-time customer of all their products but will NEVER again buy anything from this callous corporation! Pros

Comments about Tom's of Maine Cavity Protection with Baking Soda Natural Fluoride Toothpaste, Peppermint, 5.5 oz: Since my husband and I are use to Crest which is heavily flavored with mint, it took a bit of time to get use to using a toothpaste with a smaller amount of flavor to cover the taste and baking soda that naturally cleans teeth. Comments about Tom's of Maine Cavity Protection with Baking Soda Natural Fluoride Toothpaste, Peppermint, 5.5 oz: I've been using this toothpaste for at least 20yrs, because for me it's the best out there. It's not overly sweet as everything else that seems to be out there and it gets my teeth clean. Pros

Comments about Tom's of Maine Cavity Protection with Baking Soda Natural Fluoride Toothpaste, Peppermint, 5.5 oz: Initially, the baking soda is obvious in taste, but not terrible. Then, you realize that the fresh mint taste in your mouth afterwards lasts much longer than those other brands that are mint-tasting. Also, this brand doesn't bother my gums, which can be irritated by other brands. Pros

Comments about Tom's of Maine Cavity Protection with Baking Soda Natural Fluoride Toothpaste, Peppermint, 5.5 oz: This puts the paste in toothpaste, not very minty and is ok if your into more natural things. You can feel the ebrasive effect of the baking soda so it feels like it's really cleaning well. It's ok I guess. Pros

Comments about Tom's of Maine Cavity Protection with Baking Soda Natural Fluoride Toothpaste, Peppermint, 5.5 oz: Tom's toothpaste is just the greatest. I got a sample of Tom's products several years ago and we have used the toothpaste faithfully ever since. Hubby uses the fluoride toothpaste because of cavities. There is no fluoride in our country water, so toothpast give him a daily dose of fluoride. ![]() |
