I like this product. But a recent change in the packaging created a problem for me. I can't open it. It usually takes me several tries over different days to finally crack it. Then, I have to leave it partially open to avoid going through the struggle again.

I would recommend the product but add a warning about the packaging.

I would recommend everyone stay away from the new version. Tom's of Maine has been taken over by people with poor judgment. Ignore reviews unless you are sure they are recent (since 2010). The glowing reviews refer to the older product.

Where have all the good products gone? In the past few months I have noticed a change in all the Tom's products I use. The changes are not for the best. The products taste horrible and do not seem to be as effective or taste-pleasing as before. Save your time and money and move on to other products.

I was disappointed to find out that they have changed the formula on this. The new version is basically expensive flavored water with preservatives & is not worth the money. Former ingredients like Aloe, Witch Hazel & Vitamin C are NOT in the new formula. I emailed Tom's to confirm this change & was told that benzoic acid (preservative derived from apples) was added to deal with color change/separation and that the 3 signature ingredients were removed from the new version. If they had to cut costs I wish they would have just increased the price of the old rather than stripping down the ingredients so that this is a completely different formula. The old version had aloe which was very moisturizing & I liked the astringent properties of the witch hazel. I really hope they realize the error in ruining this product & change it back. I've been using a natural mouthwash by Desert Essence that is similar to the old Tom's. It has Witch Hazel, Aloe, Vitamin C, Spearmint, plus added Tea Tree Oil. It's a bit pricey & bottle has annoying design, but the mouthwash is good. Comes in 8oz & 16oz sizes. Still hope Tom's brings back the old version of Cleansing Spearmint, but until then I'll buy Desert Essence instead.

I have used and enjoyed the Tom's Spearmint Cleansing Mouthwash with Witch Hazel and Aloe for many years. The company changed the product this year and the result is negative. The taste is disgusting and there is a strange fizziness to it. I am very disappointed that I have to find a new mouthwash.

It is all natural, refreshing, long lasting and soothing to the mouth and gums.
