I've been using this brand of deodorant for years. At some point Tom's did change the fragrance (as companies pointlessly do from time to time). While the scent changed from spicy to more pine I stuck with the product, because overall it worked and it had no aluminum. Once it's on, I don't really notice much of the product scent, but maybe it just blends easily with my chemistry. It is still clean smelling and dependable.

I have used Tom's of Maine deodorant for at least five years. It never lasted all day, but with a few re-applications throughout the day, it worked just fine and kept me fresh-smelling under the arms. Woodspice was my favorite scent. However, about a month ago, I bought a new stick and had a bit of a shock. The first thing I noticed when I took off the cap was that the Woodspice scent no longer smelled woodsy and spicy (in a nice herbal kind of way), but more like a cheap pine-scented car air freshener! I was really turned off by the new-but-not-improved scent, but my opinion of my old favorite plummeted even further when I applied it. When I put it on, it burned my skin, actually foamed a little on the surface of my skin and left my underarms very wet. I couldn't put my shirt on for 15 minutes, it took so long to dry. Then my skin turned red and looked very irritated. When I got undressed later that night, the skin under my arms was very dry and starting to peel. Since I paid almost[$] for it, I tried to use it a few more times, but got the same reaction each time. I did a little research to see which ingredient might have caused this kind of reaction and learned about propylene glycol, which is a petro-chemical and known skin irritant that also happens to be one of the main ingredients in the new Tom's of Maine deodorant formula. Needless to say, I am extremely disappointed in this product and have lost a lot of respect for a company I used to praise. I have switched to Avalon's Therapeutic Lavender Deodorant which works just as well as Tom's used to, smells nice, has no propylene glycol and has caused no irritation. I have found that almost all the Tom's of Maine products I used to buy are pretty inferior in terms of performance and purity of ingredients compared to many new natural products now on the market. Over time, I have phased most of them out in favor of more pure and effective alternatives. Woodspice "natural" deodorant was the last Tom's product I bought regularly, but I will certainly not be buying it again after my recent experience. If Tom's of Maine wants to stay in the natural game, they're going to have to take a hard look at the quality and performance of their products. [...]

I like this product as an alternative to anti-perspirant. It's very good compared to other natural deodorant brands out there. It suffices for when you are not going to be involved in any intense physical activity. I also use it with the Natural Fresh Spray deodorant for double protection, which is unscented, but allows me to wear it all day without having to worry about a bad odor, because the Tom's of Maine woodspice has a nice scent.

I use this product every day. It usually provides all day deodorant protection. In some cases under hot conditions with intense physical activity, it does start to fade late in the day. The scent is very pleasant, not too strong and with a very natural, earthy flavor.

I use Tom's of Maine Woodspice every day. The local stores don;t seem the carry it, but it is the best guy scent that Tom's of Maine makes. And the hops just meld nicely with the beer I ma making.

This product works wonderful if you are not a profuse sweater. But even if you are, like you just hiked in the desert for 2 hours, you won't stink. This product smells good and doesn't leave you with wet underarm rings. If you're looking for a natural product that works, try Tom's Woodspice Deodorant.
