Based on a combination of herbs inspired by Traditional Chinese Medicine, our herbalists blended roasted dandelion and chicory roots-bitter and earthy and used to stimulate you liver's natural detoxification processes-with schisandra berries, whose use was first documented 5,000 years ago.  Called "five flavor berry" in Chinese, schisandra is unique in that it has all five tastes: sweet, sour, salty, bitter and pungent (or warm spicy).  A delightfully, complex-tasting tea, we love it because it gives the liver the love it deserves.

Since 2009 we've been working with the Shuijing Traditional Chinese Medicine Cooperative for the sustainable wild collection of schisandra berries in 22 villages surrounding the Great Panda Bear Nature Conservation Area in Sichuan Province.

Sustainable wild collection of schisandra berries-a fruit that grows in abundance in these regions and that is used in our schisandra fruit extract- has helped enhance the lives of the collectors.

Consult your health care practitioner prior to use if you are taking any prescription drugs or if you have gallstones.  Do not use this product if you have obstructed bile ducts, inflammation of the gallbladder, loose stools, or painful obstruction of the bowel; if you are pregnant or breastfeeding; or if you are allergic to plants in the daisy (Asteraceae) family such as chamomile, echinacea, chicory or dandelion.  Discomfort due to gastric hyperacidity may occur after taking herbs that contain bitter substances like chicory and dandelion.  Individuals with high gastric acidity or peptic ulcers may experience increased acidity when taking schisandra fruit.  In rare cases, chicory and dandelion may be associated with allergic skin reactions.

Not recommended for use with children under 12 years of age.

Pour 8 oz. freshly boiled water over one tea bag in a cup.  Cover cup and steep 10-15 minutes.  Squeeze the tea bag to ensure maximum goodness in your cup.  Enjoy 2-3 cups daily.  Especially good with fresh lemon.

Best if drunk daily for six weeks, followed by a break of up to a week before resuming.
