Chemical Name: TRIAMCINOLONE (trye-am-SIN-oh-lone)
Triamcinolone Acetonide 0.1% Ointment is a corticosteroid used to reduce itching, redness, and swelling associated with many skin conditions. It may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.
INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. ADDITIONAL MONITORING OF YOUR DOSE OR CONDITION may be needed if you are taking prednisone (or similar medicines). Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions, allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding.
Follow the directions for using Triamcinolone Acetonide 0.1% Ointment provided by your doctor. TO USE TRIAMCINOLONE ACETONIDE 0.1% OINTMENT: apply a small amount of medicine to the affected area. Gently rub the medicine in until it is evenly distributed. Wash your hands after applying Triamcinolone Acetonide 0.1% Ointment, unless your hands are part of treated area. DO NOT BANDAGE OR WRAP the affected area unless directed otherwise by your doctor. STORE TRIAMCINOLONE ACETONIDE 0.1% OINTMENT at room temperature, away from heat and light. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF TRIAMCINOLONE ACETONIDE 0.1% OINTMENT, apply it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule.
DO NOT TAKE TRIAMCINOLONE ACETONIDE 0.1% OINTMENT if you have had an allergic reaction to it or are allergic to any ingredient in this product. IF YOUR SYMPTOMS DO NOT IMPROVE WITHIN A FEW DAYS, or if they become worse, check with your doctor. DO NOT EXCEED THE RECOMMENDED DOSE or use Triamcinolone Acetonide 0.1% Ointment for longer than prescribed without checking with your doctor. KEEP ALL DOCTOR AND LABORATORY APPOINTMENTS while you are using Triamcinolone Acetonide 0.1% Ointment. Do not use any other medicines or special cleansers on your skin unless your doctor instructs you otherwise. AVOID GETTING TRIAMCINOLONE ACETONIDE 0.1% OINTMENT IN YOUR EYES or on the inside of your nose or mouth. CAUTION IS ADVISED WHEN USING TRIAMCINOLONE ACETONIDE 0.1% OINTMENT IN CHILDREN because they may be more sensitive to the effects of the medicine. FOR WOMEN: IF YOU PLAN ON BECOMING PREGNANT, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using Triamcinolone Acetonide 0.1% Ointment during pregnancy. IT IS UNKNOWN IF TRIAMCINOLONE ACETONIDE 0.1% OINTMENT IS EXCRETED in breast milk. IF YOU ARE OR WILL BE BREAST-FEEDING while you are using Triamcinolone Acetonide 0.1% Ointment, check with your doctor or pharmacist to discuss the risks to your baby.
CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you experience skin thinning and discoloration, stinging, rash, dry skin, itching, burning, redness, or swelling not present before using Triamcinolone Acetonide 0.1% Ointment. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist. This is not a complete list of all side effects that may occur. If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms may include blurred vision or other vision changes; muscle weakness; severe or persistent headache; symptoms of high blood sugar (eg, increased thirst or urination, confusion, unusual drowsiness); or unusual weight gain, especially in the face.
If your symptoms do not improve within 2 weeks or if they become worse, check with your doctor. DO NOT SHARE TRIAMCINOLONE ACETONIDE 0.1% OINTMENT with others for whom it was not prescribed. DO NOT USE TRIAMCINOLONE ACETONIDE 0.1% OINTMENT for other health conditions. KEEP TRIAMCINOLONE ACETONIDE 0.1% OINTMENT out of the reach of children and pets.
