My husband really loves his new shaving brush. It makes for a strange anniversary gift, but his old brush had about 5 badger hairs left. So he was thrilled!

This was a good looking but inexpensive badger shave brush. The cost is only a few dollars more than a boar bristle brush. I have tried several shave brushes and this one is only slightly better than a boar bristle brush, as it still feels somewhat course and abrasive. The greatest con in this brush is the odor. It smells foul and the smell can even overpower whatever nice smelling shave creams you are using. The smell did not go away after months of use. I even tried cleaning the brush with vinegar and then shampoo to elliminate the smell. This slightly helped, but not entirely. I considered purchasing again hoping that a new brush would be odorless. After reading other reviews with some having the same problem, I decided I'd not re-order and instead am reviewing in order to spread the word. There are other shave brushes out there that are better quality without the smell. It's worth it to pay a little more.

This is a vastly superior brush to the boar head bristle type. There's rarely any loss of the hairs from the brush. All you need to do is rotate the brush on the soap 4-5 times at most and on a wet face you'll get ample lather.

I use this for shaving my legs and underarms (yup I'm a woman). I replaced an old Body Shop shaving brush. I'd liked the Body Shop brush, but it always lost bristles -- over time it got to the point where I was losing a bunch with every shave. It is possible I just got a bad brush. With this one, I have lost a few, not more than one in any shave, and it hasn't been a problem (I've used it for two or three weeks.)

This one is a bit stiffer, but I get a good lather. I use a scented Taylor of Bond Street shaving cream, and am not bothered by any brush smell. (Of course, I'm not putting it under my nose.) I get a really good lather and a very close shave.

I've never tried a more expensive brush, but I don't think that I'd get any more value out of a $40 or $70 (or more expensive) brush.

I keep this in the shower and I'm sure over time the wood finish of the handle will look awful. But I'll live.

Made in Korea From "Badger hair" - evidently the Korean Badger is known in the USA as a porcupine. Badly irriatates your skin. Lathering up with a wire brush form your local hardware store meant for removing rust with an electric drill would probably be more comfortable. Buy something made in the USA. [*]

This brush was very soft right out of the package. There has not been an shedding or any animal smells at all. Works great at a fraction of the cost of english brushes. Highly recommended.
