I really did not like this file at all ! It is entirely too thick to get down under a toenail; especially if your toe is already sore from an ingrown toenail ! Save your money and buy one from another manufacturer. I've seen thinner ones out there.

Best at preventing ingrown toenail, files under the nail so you don't have to use those staining, icky ingrown toenail treatments that don't work really anyway. Use 1-2x at first sign that toenail may be growing in wrong.

My 10 year old has a really wide toenail bed that grows very close to the edge of his skin and this file is a perfect tool. It's really hard to file in the corners of his toenails with a conventional nail file. It's a very delicate area and this file doesn't hurt him. It was of no surprise to me that the file is of excellent quality, as most Tweezerman products are. I'm very satisfied with this purchase
Before bathing file top of nails with a regular nail file to reduce thickness. After bathing, while nails are soft, gently slide either end of file under ingrown nail. Choose flat or curved end depending on shape of nail and preference of use. Pull file out to file the under surface of the nail and relieve pressure. Repeat several times.
