Comments about Twinlab Norwegian Cod Liver Oil, 12 oz:
This cod liver oil has some of the anti-inflammatory benefits of regular fish oil while providing vitamins A & D that fish body oil doesn't. These days, most vitamin A in multi-vitamins is in the form of carotenes which are actually vitamin A precursors and can't be used by the body until converted into true vitamin A. Only a very small amount does get converted. True vitamin A is necessary for eye health. Cod liver oil provides real vitamin A.
Lately the amount of vitamin D recommended, especially for post-menopausal women, has increased. Vitamin D is necessary for the bones to utilize calcium and for health of the immune system. Cod liver oil provides that without the need to expose the skin to strong sunlight.
I like the Twinlab cod liver oil because it is tested to be free of heavy metals. It also contains some EPA & DHA, known for anti-inflammatory action. Many people become accustomed to the taste after a while, but I find the mint flavor a bit easier to accept. Worth tolerating, IMO.
Comments about Twinlab Norwegian Cod Liver Oil, 12 oz:
I take it straight from a spoon; have for years. It solved insomnia problems I'd been having which come back when I run out. The plain is just barely tolerable. Twinlabs cherry flavor (not sold by drugstore.com) is good. It doesn't taste cherry, just cuts the fishy flavor. I've also tried the orange flavor, but it is emulsified and I find the emulsified truly gross; can't choke it down more than two days in a row.
My son, when small, loved cod liver oil. I had to put it well out of reach even though I disliked it myself. So don't assume kids have same taste as grownups.
So, I give a qualified recommendation. It's an effective product but the wrong version.
Comments about Twinlab Norwegian Cod Liver Oil, 12 oz:
This is the worst-tasting stuff I have ever tried. After one dose, I almost threw up, and for days afterwards, my breath smelled fishy. Also, certain foods tasted fishy for days after I took one dose of this. I wasn't expecting cod liver oil to taste so bad. No way would I ever recommend this.
Comments about Twinlab Norwegian Cod Liver Oil, 12 oz:
Doesn't taste bad, I'm sure most children would disagree. Anyhow, can't really tell if it will help me live forever, at least not yet. As far as Cod Liver oil, seems to be better than others I've tried, no off taste.
Comments about Twinlab Norwegian Cod Liver Oil, 12 oz:
It is well known the benefits of Cod liver oil for heart, cholesterol control and joint and skin health. The only concerns are purity. Norwegian is best for purity effectiveness and quality. This is the quality oil the Norwegians save for themselves while they export the lower grades they produce. This is the best Cod Liver oil you can get in the world. Believe me I did my research before hand on benefits and quality. I just hope it is always available through Drug Store .Com and at such a reasonable price. Health food stores gharge much more for this quality. And you don't find this type of oil in drugstores. Who knows whats in those gel caps?
