Package contains 7 wrist bands
The UVSunSense wristband is engineered to be used in conjunction with a sunscreen of SPF 15 or higher to alert you to potential excessive exposure as you work or play in the sun.
According to the American Cancer Society, a sunburn will fade, but damage to deeper layers of skin remains and can eventually cause cancer. That's why sun-safe habits should begin in childhood and last a lifetime.
UVSunSense wristbands provide you with a simple sun-sensitive gauge through color change that alerts you when you need to reapply sunscreen and when to get out of the sun and its potential damaging effects.
Band Transition Did you know? UVSunSense wristbands are made using number 5 plastics (polypropylene) and can be recycled through many curbside programs.
Made in the USA
Warnings
This product does not contain a sunscreen and does not protect against sunburn. Repeated exposure of unprotected skin to the sun may increase the risk of premature skin aging, skin cancer, and other harmful effects to the skin, even if no sunburn occurs. The use of a UV warning wristband combined with limiting sun exposure, wearing protective clothing, and using sunscreens may reduce the risks of sun exposure. Such protective measures cannot eliminate these risks altogether. Store in a dark place at room temperature.

The idea for this product is great - I just wish that the item actually worked better. The fail poccurs when you attempt to put the bracelet on a second child. If you have any sunscreen on your hands (for instance, after sunscreening the first child), the bracelet will not stick.
I love the idea. It makes reapplication decisions easy.... but there has got to be an easier way to ensure that the bracelet actually sticks to itself. The sticker backing is hard to remove... and if there is any sunscreen residue, it will not stick.
In the form that these bracelets exist today, I would not recommend them.

Put this on your wrist, add your sunscreen. When the band changes color it is time to reapply sunscreen. FINALLY a product that REMINDS me when to reapply sunscreen. The last few years it has saved me from many a sunburn.
Open the package, take out one band, and close the package immediately.
Fasten the band around your wrist, with the printed side up.
Apply sunscreen over all areas of exposed skin and over the band.
When exposed to sunlight, the band immediately turns bright purple to indicate it has been activated.
When the band fades to light pink, it is recommended to reapply sunscreen on your body and on the band.
When the band turns pale yellow, it is recommended to cover up or get out of the sun.
The colors of the ink used on the band were chosen to help you recognize each transition. When `SunSense disappears, it indicates it's time to reapply sunscreen (step 5). When the Sun Symbols and `UV disappear, it indicates it is time to get out of the sun (step 6).
Note: A partially-used band, when re-exposed to the sun, starts monitoring UV rays from the point it was at when you last took it out of the sunlight. Use only one band a day per person, and then discard it.
For best results, please apply sunscreen to the band BEFORE it is fully exposed to the sunlight.
The band is calibrated to work only with sunscreen of SPF 15 or higher
Sun savvy
It's easy to lose track of time when you're playing or working outdoors. (Was that last round of sunscreen applied before your swim or after the bike ride?) With a wristband that monitors UV exposure, you can tell at a glance if you’re getting too much sun. Put one on and spend less time worrying and more time enjoying the day.
UVSunSense wristbands change color depending on how long you've been in the sun. Each wristband starts off orange. After applying sunscreen to yourself and the band, the wristband turns purple, indicating that it has been activated. When the band turns brown it's time for more sunscreen and when it turns yellow it's time to get out of the sun.
The founders, Bill Luisi and Jon Horovitz, created UVSunSense to provide an easy way for people to make sure their sunscreen is still working and help avoid sun damage. Their wristbands are meant to get wet, so you can find out right away if that last jump in the pool dissolved your sunscreen. It's much better than discovering a nasty sunburn later on.
Jon Horovitz Special Guest/Producer Mar 23rd, 2010 @ 12:20 PM I'm proud to bring to you a simple way for you to stay safer in the sunshine. With spring break and summer just around the corner, these bands should be a must-have accessory for everyone enjoying time outside.
Katherine Daily Grommet Staff Apr 30th, 2010 @ 4:33 PM Congratulations to UVSunSense for being featured by Dr. Oz as part of his healthy tan plan. Dr. Oz says "Try a UV wristband. This is an inexpensive method of monitoring how often you need to reapply sunscreen. The band will change color when it's time."
