This worked, and smells fine when I used it to shave my chest, and stomach hair, but when I shaved my face at the end I had about ten razor bumps in one area of my jaw. I don't know if it was my razor, or what, but it took about a week, and a half for them to go away, but still leaving spots lasting a month plus. That was my second shave ever, and first time trying wet shaving. I will not be wet shaving my face anymore.

The block of soap is to small for the standard mugs. I don't understand why you don't supply soap made by old spice or burma shave.

I have tried all three Van Der Hagen shaving soaps (Select, Deluxe, Glycerine) and they are ALL better than the many other brands of mug-and-brush cakes now available (or discontinued). They are a joy to use because they stay WETTER on the face. I can't say which one I like best... you can't go wrong with any of the three. Drop a cake in your mug, lather up with a hot, wet badger brush and fire away! NO REWETTING before finishing the shave!

You need to use very little, especially with the Tweezerman Brush. And you get a close shave, especially with the Gillette 5-Blader. It is stored in a convenient plastic cup that closes tightly, so that you can use it for traveling.

I was expecting more from this item. However I realized that you get what you pay for. This is an affordable shaving soap and may not be perfect for men who have tough beard.

My husband and I both use this shave soap after using the expensive boutique products and find this to leave a more smooth clean feel. Few to no nicks or cuts using this product. Reasonably priced.
