This has been SUCH a "skin saver" for me! It IS an oil, so don't be mislead by the word "Gel" in the name. The gel part gives the product a thicker consistency, so when you pour some into your hand it doesn't act like a "regular" oil and run all over the place. It looks and acts like a gel. But once you start to rub it in, it applies like an oil; thinner than petrolatum but thicker than a plain oil. I'm fortunate to not have any skin reactions or rashes as a result of using it. It doesn't absorb completely like a lotion or cream would; it does leave behind a residue. If you have a busy, early-morning schedule that requires you dress in nice clothing, this is probably not the product to use at that time. OTOH, if you do have skin as dry as I do that involves red, rough, chapped patches and terrible itching, then use it at night and wear some old pajamas you don't care anything about. It has a wonderful, very light almond/cocoa butter scent that I find very soothing, but does not interfere with my perfume. As I don't have a busy morning schedule I am able to wear old clothes for a half-hour or so until the residue soaks in completely or dissapates.

For those of you complaining about the greasiness... it's OIL. It's not going to soak in and disappear the way lotion does. If thats what you're looking for, buy the vaseline lotion.

This gel oil is excellent for bad, dry, cracked skin. I have the ashiest legs in the winter that itch all day, and this immediately put a stop to it. I've been using it for a year now. Obviously, with it being an oil, a LITTLE goes a LONG way. I wouldn't use it as an overall body moistureizor, but it's perfect for those really dry sections. Definitely apply after shower while your skin is still moist.

Used the product 2 days in a row to moisturizer my arms. Felt very heavy and greasy. Did not absorb. On the third day I developed a terrible rash on my arms that lasted 2 weeks. Do not recommend.... I did love the scent though.

This product created a horrible rash on my wife and myself. There are many complaints about this product. Do not use!

Ok..I have to start out by saying this: those who complained of this product being greasy are correct. However, it is an oil and it clearly says that on the bottle. I'm not sure what exactly people where hoping for when you combine oil and gel together..but to each their own.

For me..that's where the "cons" stop. This is a great product! My skin has never been softer!! It smells and works fantastic!

*Tip* I tried to use it by itself, but it does get a little hard to spread around, so I couple it with Jergens Ultra Healing lotion. (I'm sure you can use any lotion of your choosing, but Jergens is a great moisturizing lotion.) This combo does WONDERS on my skin! I have sensitive skin and I think I've finally found a combo I can use long term. I haven't had any breakouts or blemishes. My elbows and knees feel better than they have in a long time. And as an added bonus, using the combination of the two makes the products last longer (which is great because neither is particularly cheap! ^_^) I definitely recommend this product!

I am not allergic to anything, but after 3 days of using this product my legs, arms, chest and stomach look like a severe bumpy sunburn. This is the 6th day I have dealt with this, hoping it would go away. I itch all over and am miserable. Not sure what the product has in it that I'm allergic to, it is definitely a result of this product, it's the only thing I have changed in the past month. Will be going to the Dr asap! ;o(

I am surprised at the great reviews this product has received on this site. it has a pleasant fragrance but it is heavy so you have to pull your skin to rub it in and i was using it as a total body moisturizer and i felt like i needed a shower after applying. it left my skin so greasy that it shined. also feels sticky on hands. it does work nicely on elbows and feet (if you are wearing socks) to immediately take away the dry look - but you are trading it for a greasy look. If you are wearing shoes or sandals without socks it will stain where your foot meets the shoes with grease.,

I grabbed a bottle of this at a local drug store in Des Moines this winter. (Iowa in the winter is not the place to be without your body lotion!) I was traveling and had run out of my usual moisurizer. At first I was a tad put off by the smell. (I'm 50. The "beachy" smell was/is a tad youthful) But the end results put that worry to rest. I have been blessed with very good skin. This stuff made it feel and LOOK even better. I've gone through 2 bottles of it and plan to continue going through bottles of it as long as the good people at Vaseline are smart enough to make it!
