I suffered from intractable hand eczema for five years, with chronic fissuring, cracking, and bleeding of my fingertips. I visited several dermatologists, and tried a variety of potent and super-potent steroids (clobetasol, betamethasone, desoxymetasone), immune system mediators, skin thickeners, urea ointments, and many other medicines.

I've finally controlled this condition and restored my hands to normal condition by smearing petrolatum on after my evening shower, and then slipping on nitrile gloves for the night. No medicine at all, and just a modest cost. It's great to have my hands back.

Petrolatum is not absorbed by your skin, and has no medicinal effect. It just seals the skin, retaining your body's moisture. Put it on after you bathe (or soak your hands in warm water) to maintain your skin's moisturized state. If you have severe dry skin, you might give this a try.

Vaseline is oft-touted as one of those long-time "oldie but a goodie" beauty products. I recently purchased for overnight use - to massage into my hands and leave cotton gloves on to maximize softness. It is a very think moisturizer when used in this way and I haven't yet perfected my nightly ritual of application, but it is affordable and I believe it will ultimately leave you with the desired results.

Comments about Vaseline Petroleum Jelly, 13 oz:

This actually works better than Vaseline's other products. It's pretty thick, but when mixed down with some vegetable glycerin it workd a charm for extra dry skin.
It also doesn't contain all those other ingredients that break you out that other creams have added. With being allergic to so many things in these creams, it's a huge bonus. A little goes a long way.

It's the best facial moisturizer during the winter month. Yes, indeed, it is the only thing that works on my DRY and HYPER-sensitive skin.

Comments about Vaseline Petroleum Jelly, 13 oz:

As a sufferer of severe eczema (face, neck, and all other awful spots), this is the only thing that works. This is the only thing that really does work for my dry skin. It is soothing and doesn't burn when your skin is as bad as mine. Best thing since sliced bread, that's all I have to say.

Comments about Vaseline Petroleum Jelly, 13 oz:

I always come back to Vaseline - especially as a facial moisturizer. It is the ONLY thing that works! I have very dry and sensitive skin due to eczema, and this is the only thing that helps calm and moisturize my skin. I highly highly recommend this product.

I tried different lip ointments, expensive and cheap ones. But I discovered only petroleum jelly is the effective solution for my chapped lips.

Comments about Vaseline Petroleum Jelly, 13 oz:

AN ABSOLUTE ESSENTIAL! I use Vaseline for countless things...it seems as though whatever I need...Vaseline can do it. In the winter months, this product is in every room of my house! Irritated noses from tissues...Vaseline soothes and heals, even when my lips are so chapped and I think there's no hope for relief until the snow melts...I put Vaseline on at night, and in the morning my lips are almost new! My hands get incredibly cracked, and I found the only thing that works is Vaseline...no more fancy expensive creams, just good old Vaseline. Don't forget that Vaseline is the best makeup remover! A jar of Vaseline is sitting next to me right now!!

Comments about Vaseline Petroleum Jelly, 13 oz:

One of the most versatile beauty/personal care products ever. The uses for this are endless. It works amazingly well as a lip balm (use the unscented kind otherwise it's gross), eye-makeup remover, clear mascara, skin moisturizer (for those dry flakey parts), diaper rash, sunburn, tick removal (disgusting but true), practically everything. A common household staple that everyone MUST have.

Comments about Vaseline Petroleum Jelly, 13 oz:

Hands down, the best thing ever to have in the beauty bag. I use this stuff for everything: As a nighttime lip balm, mix with eye shadow for an eye gloss, rub into hands before bed, and when my skin is really dry, I like to rub a layer of the stuff into my skin, then take a shower. Trust me, you can't ever stop finding uses for Petroleum Jelly, and it's great for dry, sensitive skin.

Vaseline Petroleum Jelly

 – Vaseline Petroleum Jelly is a must-have health and beauty supply for everyone. This soft jelly creates a protective barrier on the skin, locking in moisture and protecting cracked or burned skin while it heals. Whether you suffer from dry skin and are desperate for relief, or you’re a parent looking to protect your children's skin, it’s always a good idea to have a tub of Vaseline Petroleum Jelly in your bathroom cabinet.

Ease the Discomfort of Dry Skin

Vaseline Petroleum Jelly can help prevent your skin from drying out in cold or windy weather. It also soothes dry patches, reducing itching and restoring moisture to your skin. Vaseline Petroleum Jelly is recognized by the National Eczema Association. Simply apply the jelly to any dry, cracked or damaged area of skin as directed to promote healing and prevent further irritation. Vaseline can also protect minor burns and scrapes while they heal, although you should avoid applying it to deep wounds and seek medical attention instead. You can also apply Vaseline Petroleum Jelly to your lips during summer or winter to keep them from chapping.

Gentle on Your Skin

Vaseline Petroleum Jelly contains 100% pure petroleum jelly and is completely free from additives, colors and scents. Vaseline Petroleum Jelly is hypoallergenic and does not clog pores or cause blemishes. You can even use Vaseline to remove eye makeup without causing irritation to your skin. Many parents use Vaseline Petroleum Jelly on their babies' delicate skin to protect them against diaper rash.

The Vaseline Story

Vaseline Petroleum Jelly has been used since the 1800s to protect and moisturize skin. The chemist Robert Augustus Chesebrough began extracting the jelly from petroleum as early as the 1860s. Chesebrough founded the Vaseline brand and the product's popularity quickly spread across the United States. Vaseline Petroleum Jelly became so popular that by 2005 a tub was sold every 39 seconds somewhere in the world.
