Cons Best Uses Comments about Vet's + Best Hot Spot Foam, Fast Itch Relief for Dogs, Tea Tree Oil & Aloe Vera, 4 fl oz: I have a Westie (who are prone to skin irritation and allergies) and certain times of year he will develope hot spots on his back or feet and will chew until he bleeds. I added salmon oil to his diet, and tried several other topical treatments, this really was the only one I found to be effective. He stopped chewing right away, allowing the spot to heal. Very easy to apply, you just pump some foam in your hand and rub it onto the affected area. Another reviewer here says tea tree oil is toxic to dogs, which I believe is right, but this is diluted and did not bother my dog at all. Wonderful product! It is highly toxic to dogs. In the past month, 2 pet owners have come into the vet hospital (where I work) with their dogs. One large dog, one small dog. Both had toxic reactions to Tea Tree Oil. One was a reaction to oil, the other to shampoo/conditioner with tea tree oil in it. Both animals had been vomitting, were lethargic and quite simply ill. Both had to be put on fluids for a couple of days. Some holistic solutions are fine, I'm sure. However, I would not recommend tea tree oil - nor the vet bills that could result. My dog's health is too important to me. Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend (1 of 1 customers found this review helpful) Was this review helpful? Comments about Vet's + Best Hot Spot Foam, Fast Itch Relief for Dogs, Tea Tree Oil & Aloe Vera, 4 fl oz: My dog is 3 years old and for some reason over the past few months he has started eating his feet, CONSTANTLY when we are gone at work. I tried this foam to sooth his feet and to make him stop chewing them but he actually eats them almost more now and then gags because it tastes bad! Therefore good product when it comes to the tea tree oil being bad tasting :) and he also seems to enjoy me putting it on so it must be soothing it just was not effective for my dog. Comments about Vet's + Best Hot Spot Foam, Fast Itch Relief for Dogs, Tea Tree Oil & Aloe Vera, 4 fl oz: My Miniature Pinscher/Chihuahua mix has chronic allergies and hot spots- most significantly in his "armpits" and his paws. Tea tree oil often works best for him, but most sprays clog easily and are difficult to administer, especially to the areas where he has the most problems. When I saw this was a foam, I snatched it up, thinking it would be easier to apply to his "armpits" and it was. I just put a small amount right in my hand and rub it right in- no mess, no drips, it stays put and absorbs right into his skin. Does it smell awfully medicinal? Yeah, but thats what tea tree oil smells like, no matter what product you use. The nice thing about the foam is that now I don't have to drip tea tree oil all over the place and make the floor, carpet, etc smell like that too. This has been effective in helping to soothe his skin and the foam format is genius. I will definitely be buying this again.
