This thermometer gives a reading very quickly, however the reading changes significantly on a second read. For example, I recently took my temperature and the initial reading was just over 98 (and the probe still felt cold in my mouth). After a series of reads, it had gone up to 100. I think that you can get an accurate reading if you wait until you can get it to give you the same reading twice. Unfortunately, that generally takes 5-10 minutes. That's annoying for an adult, torture for a child.

I'm impressed with this product, it works fast and is great for kids. I had another one and it took forever to get a reading. This one works in 8 seconds flat, lights up red, yellow or green and it's great.

I am a homecare RN and use this thermometer 5 day a week at least 6 times per day. I have had this thermometer for at least 6 months and has never failed me. I find it to be accurate, reliable and gives a very fast reading.

The battery was dead as soon as I opened the package so I never got to use it. Had I known the headache that would ensue upon trying to replace the battery I would have just bought a new thermometer immediately. I went to multiple stores and couldn't find the battery type (CR 1225 3V). I finally looked online and saw that I could order one from [@]... but really, when other thermometers only cost $5-$10, why would anyone special order a battery?!

When I initially purchased it everything was fine. The design and color indicators on the screen were helpful and user friendly. Then a few months later it suddenly refuses to work. It was sitting in a cool dry place not being used or anything that should wear the battery life. I used it perhaps 4 times. This is total garbage.

Best digital thermometer I had so far and I've owned a bunch. I honestly haven't had any problems with this one. I'm sorry that so many others have had issues. It's usually me that ends up with a dodgy product. It was easy to figure out, affordable and reliable.. I can only think that Vicks sent out some bad batches. Only downside would be the probe covers.....I wish that they would include more. Or tell us where to find more.

Did not work when received. From the amount of other negative reviews, this seems to be a common problem. Please stop selling this product!

Do not buy this thermometer. It worked the first time I used it, then it failed. I purchased a new battery, but it continued to produce erratic results. I wonder whether the desogners of this product actually tried it before selling it. It's hard to imagine that they did.
