In owning six different humidifiers (cool-mist &steam), I recommend this as my favorite because: no white dust (you don't want your babies breathing that stuff- I could see it on the crib); it is truly quiet when you don't add too much salt, causing over-boiling; it is inexpensive but not cheap plastic, as another reader stated- very heavy duty reservoir. Note: It becomes quite heavy once you fill it with water, so you could place it where you want it and then fill with a pitcher. Experiment with the amount of salt you need to add. I just add five small pinches. Contrary to another statement made, these DO last all-night and into the day when you have the water and salt right. Even the smaller size. Makes a big difference in the comfort of your home- static electricity, static hair, heating temperature, etc. Keeps my kids cozy without raising the thermostat too much and drying out their noses and throats! Can't beat it for the price. Clean boiler with vinegar every now and then.

The picture made it look like it would sit vertically and it would be a slightly more advanced vaporizor compared to others. It's not, it sits flat, has a large foot print so it won't fit on most night stands and it's just like every other vaporizer. Meaning it leaves water in the container along with black particles and you have to turn it upside down and try to shake it out before you refill. Nothing new, just a extra large vaporizer.

After a few months of use, it smelled like burnning plastic or something and then it burned & sparked making exploding sound one night (it was with full of water). The smoke was all over the room and smkoe detector was activated around 3 a.m.

My husband recently had serious lung surgery and is undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatments. We bought this to add moisture to the air and aid his breathing. This product has worked wonderfully, is easy to use, and is a great value!!

I absolutely love this humidifier. It is so quiet you do not even know it is on. What I really love is how warm and cozy my room feels when I come in from work and the heat is not even on yet. It is definitely going to save in the heat bill since the heat is turned down several degrees now. I do not have a cold or flu; I was just tired of waking up with a bloody nose from the dry heat and have not had to wake up that way since. It is easy to take care of and do not have to add any salt. I am going to order another one and one for my mom and my son and his family.

This is a great product, but what people don't understand is everyone's water has a different level of hardness. Your water needs to be tested to see what the hardness is so you can add softner (salt or baking soda).

Horrible purchase. I've had it running out of the box for three days, and there has been hardly any mist at all! Pass this one by, it's not worth the box it came in.

I LOVE THIS VAPORIZER. I used it (first time) to help relieve my extremely dry skin. This is the first winter I do not have any dry patches on my body. It keeps the air moist, and even makes the room feel warmer before I even put the heat on. It was worth the price here, even though I've seen it cheaper elsewhere.
