Rub on bottoms of feet and wear socks to bed at night. Vicks will disapate through through whole system, very good for the common cold. We have recommended to many friends and they believe in it also. It works for infants to elderly. A podiatrist told us about this and our doctor agrees that it will get through the body system, has worked for us every time -- we use it as soon as our COLD symtoms start to appear.

Someone had told me about Vicks and how it relieves coughing when applied to the soles of the feet. Well my kids have had allergy related coughs for a few weeks and it has been annoying for them. Tonight I thought I'd try Vicks and I put a thin layer, not a ton, on their soles and it immediately relieved their coughs, it was amazing. They are 10 and 5 years old. So, this old wives tale is true...it totally works!

I have asthma and get respiratory illnesses a lot.

Even with all the asthma medications and prednisone and mucinex, etc., my chest is full of gunk and hurts and my cough keeps going.

Vicks VapoRub is great, and really helps me feel better.

It does get clothes greasy where they rest on the VapoRub, but that is relieved somewhat by placing a washcloth over the VapoRub, adding a layer of cloth between the ointment and my shirts.

Still, VapoRub is the only thing that really works for me, and the smell is soothing.

I just get a degreasing product for the laundry, and it's an inconvenience I gladly go through to get the relief that the Vicks gives me.

It also helps my son with asthma with his many colds.

My toes we black with fungus. My dermitologist told me that the only cure was that drug that "may cause liver damage". I didn't like that trade-off so I lived with black toes for a few years. Then someone told me to try Vicks. It tooks at least a few weeks to show any result but slowly, ever so slowly the the fungus started to recede. After several months it is I would say 95% gone, or at least not visable. I continue to apply it twice a day.

Vicks has been around for as long as I can remember.I was raised with it,so were my children and now, my grandchildren. Old remedies are usually the best! It's just a 'feel better' product/medication that can't hurt anything.I even heard if a person is coughing all night,rub vicks on the bottom of their feet, put socks on them and that will let them sleep through the night. I can believe that and people swear by that, too! I put it in my nose at night when I have a sore throat and by morning, it is a lot less sore or gone! I think Vicks is the #1 medication ever founded.

Okay, I'm about to date myself here, but here's my story anyway. My mother used this on me for my many chest and respiratory infections as a kid. Obviously, it doesn't heal the problem, but it relieves the symptoms.. My mother would rub this on my chest, then heat a clean, cloth diaper over a low flame on the stove and put it on my chest. The heat and fumes from the Vaporub would help me breathe more freely and ease any chills I had. I still like it, as I have chronic bronchitis and sinusitis. It really clears the nasal passages, though the days of cloth diapers are long gone. Now I use a heat wrap instead. The added heat really helps....
