Do NOT get it on your hands/fingers. Even if you wash them, the hot pepper extract will still be on them. You may forget and rub your eyes which will cause intense burning.
I use it for chronic back pain, along with oral anti-inflammatory medications. It does help, but as mentioned above, precautions need to be taken.

Capsaicin is made from the oil of hot peppers, therefore, do not get it on fingers if you will be touching eyes, nose or mouth. It will Burn! That is why I recommend the rubber spatula to apply. Even with gloves, you'll still risk getting it on your hands when you remove them. Washing your hands will not help!
