Do not place cleaner in the eye or insert lenses which have not been thoroughly rinsed with sterile saline. Burning and stinging of the eyes may result. I belive that contacts do require some minor rubbing between fingers after using in order to fully remove protein buildup. I know there are many "soak" products on the market that only require one to soak the lens in a solution. But soaking does not really remove all protein no matter what the package says.
The best product for really cleaning was Ciba's MiraFlow Daily Cleaner. This product is no longer made. So when I exhausted my remaining two bottles I searched and searched and finally came up with this Walgreen cleaner. It's the closest product to the MiraFlow product. It works the same way as MiraFlow and is effective.
The only possible downside is that the Walgreen cleaner is not quite as viscous as the original MiraFlow cleaner. But it's still good and effective for protein removal. Highly recommended.

For those of you who remember how wonderful Miraflow was, finally, here is a daily cleaner that replicates that very effective formula.
Miraflow was the only daily cleaner that effectively removed makeup, lipids and other miscellaneous gunk from my contacts. When production ceased, I tried to find replacement daily cleaners, but nothing compared. For the last few years, I have experienced a lot of trouble with my contact lenses (irritation, dry eye, discharge, etc.), and I thought that I would soon be forced to go back to glasses full-time or get Lasik. In retrospect, I think that all of my problems began when I ran out of Miraflow and was no longer able to effectively clean all of the deposits on my contact lenses.
I ordered this daily cleaner recently, and it seems to replicate the old Miraflow formula perfectly. My eyes/contacts haven't felt this good in years. I hope they keep making this, because it looks like I can keep wearing contacts indefinitely as long as I have access to this excellent daily cleaner.
Remove lens from eye and place in palm of hand. Apply 1-2 drops of cleaner to each lens surface. Gently rub lens with the forefinger of the opposite hand for 15-30 seconds. Rinse the lens thoroughly with fresh, sterile, multipurpose solution. Do not use tap water with contact lenses. Repeat process with other lens. Disinfect lenses according to the directions of your lens care professional. This product is compatible with thermal (heat) or chemical (cold) disinfection. Store at room temperature (60°-80°F).
