I dont ever have to pause or turn it off until the water has run out, I use all the water. If you go slowly between each tooth and around the gum line of each tooth, outside and inside of teeth and gums you should use all the water too. I always put a large splash of hydrogen peroxide in the water. It is what dentists use as an antiseptic in your mouth anyway. Of course, they flavor it and give it a scent. You should rinse well with a small glass of water after though. If you dont like the taste of the peroxide, use mouthwash after. The hydrogen peroxide will clear up bleeding and swollen gums pronto! Just start slow, with it on low and gradually build up to top speed cleaning. Wanna know why your dentist doese'nt reccomend this..... He would be out of business! Seriously, in telling dentists I use it, not one, ever has had anything bad to say about it! Yet still they are not telling all their patients to use it ever. As far as someone saying it does not last long mechanically. Hase'nt anyone else noticed the quality of ALL manufactured goods today. It is pretty obvious they all want you to throw it away and buy a new one. They call it job security. Although it is a sad practice today. I still would buy a new one of these, I would not ever be without one. It is the only thing that works to clean your teeth and gums that well. I have used waterpiks for over 40 years and was never disappointed until I purchased this one. There is simply not enough pressure (even on the highest setting) to fully clean between the teeth and pockets. I now have to use a toothpick to get all the food particles out of my teeth and pockets. This was never the case with the older models. Sorry, I cannot recommend this product because it does not do the job that it claims to do. Reviewed by 107 customers Sort by Displaying reviews 1-10 Previous | Next » 5/20/2012 great product Pros

Comments about WaterPik Classic Water Flosser, Model WP-60W: I've been using a WaterPik for over 25 years, and I'm just now on my third unit. Although gum disease runs in my family, I've never had a problem. I easily go two to four years between dental cleanings with no problem. Even flossing is not as effective as using the WaterPik. The only time I floss is when I'm traveling and I can tell that flossing just isn't as effective. I wholeheartedly recommend this to anyone with teeth and would like to keep their teeth. Comments about WaterPik Classic Water Flosser, Model WP-60W: If I don't use it daily, my gums bleed. It seem that this product is the only one that helps to ward that off. I just wish that it would be made more durable. I am sure with today's technology, it would be very easy to make the cheap and short-lived tubing more durable. This is my 3rd unit due to the wearing out of the tube. We even tried to replace the tubing, but that didn't work very well. In spite of it all, I keep going back to this unit because it stops my gums' bleeding. The new ones are much less powerful and more expensive. Comments about WaterPik Classic Water Flosser, Model WP-60W: About 1 month ago I went for a dental check-up and had a cleaning like never in my life (i'm 54!). My cleaning took 2 office visits and the dental hygeinist really worked to get the YEARS off plaque off! She said I had pockets and gingivitis! I had no idea all that was building up! She showed me how to CORRECTLY use dental floss and when I began following her instructions at home my gums were soooo sore and I even began to run a fever after about 6 days of correct flossing. My dental hygeinist also told me to get a water pick but I did not afford it yet until 2 weeks ago when I got this product. I am amazed at how much better my gums and teeth are now! My dent hygein said my gums have already shown so much improvement that i do not need a 3 month follow up and that i can come back in the normal 6 months! This will sound really disgusting... but since i have been using the water pick, i do not have any of that stink in the 2 areas of my gums/teeth that always made the dental floss stink! This product has helped me so much. It is so EASY to use and clean up. If i keep my mouth only slightly open ... just enough to let the water drain out, and keep my head over the sink while using the w pick it does not make a mess. The water tank holds a perfect amount .. enough for me , a slow beginner, to floss thouroughly each tooth inner and outer sides. The pressure can be adjusted so easily and this will use up the tank faster, but you still have enough time to thouroughly floss. I am using the second gentle setting. I can not comment on how long it will last as i have only been using it for 2 weeks. i like that the water tank is clear so i know when i should be at the completion of my flossing. I like the convient holders for the picks. The tubing is plenty long enough. The head swivels so you can aim the pick perfectly inside your mouth. I am going to bring it with me on Thanksgiving! Storage is so east: just turn the tank upsidedown over the unit and you're done!
