This was despite the fact that I was flossing daily. I started using the waterpik daily. My gums are now back to normal, and measure 3 to 4 on the gauge. I noticed that a lot of food material was dislodged with the waterpik, even after thoroughly flossing. I could feel the floss pushing the particles of food deeper into my gums. Now, I brush my teeth at least twice a day, and waterpik then floss at night before bed. My teeth and gums feel clean. My gums do not bleed when my teeth are cleaned at the dentist, and my breath tastes and smells much better. I had one waterpik that lasted for 2 years with daily use, but I did not rinse it out as directed after using with mouthwash added to the water. The one I currently have I purchased 4 months ago and I do rinse it after each use with mouthwash. I have had no problems, and spending [$]. every two years to avoid thousands of dollars of oral surgery is a no-brainer. Thank you for a great product. But, I have found nothing that works as good. Few people will not do a good job flossing. Don't believe me? Floss, then use a WaterPik and watch the crud that is in the water dripping out of your mouth. I am presently trying to get more life out of mine by using a water softener solution added to the water tank. Comments about WaterPik Personal Oral Cleaning System, Model #WP-65, 1 ea: I use mine at highest speed (just keep away from tongue and inner lip area .. OUCH). I use 1/2 tsp baking soda and 1 tsp ZERO Listerine mouthwash. My gums have been so much healthier. Had the osseous surgery done(6 years ago)on all 4 quads at ONCE (doc told me at my after/surgery appt. that if I hadn't had it all done at once, I'd NEVER had had it done again). How right he was and OTHER docs have told me THAT method was BARBARIC. ANYWAY, I survived, STILL have all my teeth and my gums are healthy because of the waterpic flosser. I'm 70 and was advised to start using this YEARS before ... stubborn, but wished I had. Do yourself a HUGE favor and use this thing. There are OODLES on the market; this one is priced right and does the job. Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Was this review helpful? Comments about WaterPik Personal Oral Cleaning System, Model #WP-65, 1 ea: I have used the same model for six years. It works well with bridges and is far more effective than flossing. It is noisy and messy. The pump seized up after three years and I took it to pieces and added some lubrication. The hose split after five years and I repaired that too. You can do the same if you are handy. The unit requires frequent sterilization. I use a weak bleach solution (as I do for other products used for water storage such as Camelbaks.) Comments about WaterPik Personal Oral Cleaning System, Model #WP-65, 1 ea: . I am a long time user of Waterpiks.. In twenty years I have used 2 older models. They lasted on average 10 years. Also the water force on the dials was much stronger. This #WD-65 had just very mild water pressure when dialed to #10. And after approx. 3 years it died!!!! Don't waste you money. Comments about WaterPik Personal Oral Cleaning System, Model #WP-65, 1 ea: Used to get out the hard to reach food that gets between the teeth. Especially good where several crowns/caps are together as dental floos is diffcult to use there.
