Used this curling iron in Italy and it heated up fine. No temperature settings, so it's either on (and pretty high) or off.

I usually use a larger barrel, so if there had been that size, I would have picked it instead.

I have fine, relatively-straight hair and my sister has medium-coarse, wavy hair, and we both used this iron with some success.

The barrel and clamp of this item isn't made of tourmeline, like most curling irons are nowadays, so my hair didn't slide through it as easily as I would have liked, and it can induce a bit of static, depending on your hair and the weather. If you like a strong clamp on your curling iron, this will work well for you.

Warning: don't drop this iron, even from just a few feet...I did, and the clamp part came off. It didn't break, and we'll probably be able to get it back together, but we weren't able to use the curling iron for the rest of our trip. Not really the product's fault, but it definitely is an indicator of the product's level of "robustness."

Overall, if you need a curling iron abroad, this'll work. It folds in half, which helps reduce space (a bit) in your luggage, and the included adapter (which can be used with other electronics that don't need converters) helps justify the high price. I wouldn't recommend this for daily use, however.
