I don't know what someone was trying to do to break this in 3 places. I've had mine 2-3 years and just recently knicked the blade when I dropped it on the edge of a steel pot. And the veggie peeler has worked well too. This is my "go to" knife for cutting up onions quickly and easily, and chopping lettuce without it browning from contact with metal -- much better than a plastic "lettuce knife" for that purpose.

Would I recommend it? I already have and the friend who has it loves it and it's her "default" as well.

Shattered in to several pieces first day. Harder than steel? I don't think so! Might be good for tomatoes, and such but not anything hard were you need to exert any pressure on it.

Ceramic knives are a novelty. They have no practical value. In particular, the ceramic peeler barely peels. It is worse than the knife.

Although I haven't bought one yet for myself, I have given it a number of times as a gift, and everyone loves it. Says they have never worked with such a great knife.

I love this knife - it cuts unbelievably! Need to be careful and not cut yourself it is so sharp. It's better than I expected.

The knife is as good as advertised and will cut a tomato as thin as u desire.
