I had several rashes on my arms and legs. After applying the Zanfel according to the directions, the itch did not dissipate. So, I followed the directions and applied more Zanfel and washed. The itch still persisted. After a couple more applications and washes with Zanfel, I ran the worst rashes under very hot water, dried the skin gently and applied Band-Aid anti-itch gel. That product worked much better than the Zanfel and relieved the itching for almost 6 hours. If you have a well-developed case of poison ivy rash, I recommend saving your money and using a cheaper "anti-itch" product instead. Best Uses Comments about Zanfel Wash For Poison Ivy, Oak & Sumac (Urushiol), 1 oz: I contracted some sort of poison while working in the yard. I used this product as directed and my condition kept getting worse, becoming swollen and inflamed. This is only a scrub, not really a medication. I finally went to the doctor and was told that the worst thing I could do for this was scrub it. It wasn't spreading before I got the product but did after I used it a couple times. Don't waste your money, not only did I spend [$] on this but ended up having to go to the doctor anyway.

Comments about Zanfel Wash For Poison Ivy, Oak & Sumac (Urushiol), 1 oz: My husband breaks out if you just mention poison ivy. I read about this online and decided to give it a try. You do need to use it as soon as you can after exposure (which isn't always possible). Now he uses it after the first sign of an itch and it has always stopped the breakout in its tracks.

Comments about Zanfel Wash For Poison Ivy, Oak & Sumac (Urushiol), 1 oz: Zanfel works great at removing the poison ivy oils on the surface of your skin. One application is enough to work well for mild exposures. For blistered areas, I find that I am itch free for about four hours after using Zanfel. Then I start to itch again as the oils deeper in the skin rise back to the nerve endings near the surface of the skin. Repeated applications about every 4 hours work well for me, with hydrocortizone cream after application. (1 of 1 customers found this review helpful) Was this review helpful? Comments about Zanfel Wash For Poison Ivy, Oak & Sumac (Urushiol), 1 oz: This stuff is amazing! I tossed the calamine lotion, which did practially nothing. After washing with this, all the itch goes away and I never do blister. If I use it right after I notice the itch, I don't even break out! My husband got a really bad case, though, all over his body, and we decided that the doctor was a better option than trying to use an OTC product on his entire person. Use common sense, folks. Comments about Zanfel Wash For Poison Ivy, Oak & Sumac (Urushiol), 1 oz: I agree that Zanfel works, and I agree that the right amount has to be applied. I also agree that it is for early detection; otherwise, you are in for quite a ride! For my worst case (which was undetected as poison oak for 3 days after the first rash appeared), the turnaround came at the peak of suffering when I was introduced to essential oils for poison oak. In ONE application, they did what the Zanfel could not - the blisters dried up; hence, no more weeping, and new skin started to surface under the flaking dry skin that were the blister. This is OVERNIGHT. I still use Zanfel at the first sign of a rash or if I know I've been in contact (it's great for that), but for those who are more far gone and don't want to take hormones or drugs - go natural and try essential oils. Find an aromatherapist who knows his/her stuff. It feels good on the skin, and you'll smell lovely! (3 of 5 customers found this review helpful) Was this review helpful? By Laurelai B from Rohnert Park, CA Comments about Zanfel Wash For Poison Ivy, Oak & Sumac (Urushiol), 1 oz: Miraculous Zanfel changed my life. After years of suffering from poison oak - trying all the over the counter relief remedies such as technu, homeopathic treatments, cortisone creams, etc., I found Zanfel. When used as directed on the affected area for 30 seconds, itching is completely eliminated! On occasion, after a particularly bad outbreak, a second treatment was needed a short time later. I never required more than two applications. Only a teeny tiny amount is needed for each treatment (less is needed than stated in the package directions), so the tube can last through many treatments. It is worth every penny . . . and more!!! Highly, highly recommended. (2 of 2 customers found this review helpful) Was this review helpful? Yes / No - You may also flag this review 11/16/2006 Itching stops in 15 ... By Susan from Corvallis, OR Comments about Zanfel Wash For Poison Ivy, Oak & Sumac (Urushiol), 1 oz: Itching stops in 15 seconds. We bought two acres with hedges of poison oak. Vines growing up every oak tree, some the size of your arm. My husband is very allergic. He even gets it from the bare vines or stems. This stuff really works. Was this review helpful? Comments about Zanfel Wash For Poison Ivy, Oak & Sumac (Urushiol), 1 oz: This is the best product for poison ivy I have ever used. Not only does it work (generally after two applications) but I also find my reaction to poison ivy contact is less than before. I always have a tube on hand. I do wish it were cheaper. This has allowed me to do my gardening worry free. Was this review helpful? Yes / No - You may also flag this review Displaying reviews 1-10 Previous | Next »
