Chemical Name: ONDANSETRON (on-DAN-se-tron)
Zofran 8mg is an antiemetic used to prevent nausea and vomiting following chemotherapy, radiation therapy, or surgery. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.
SOME MEDICINES MAY INTERACT with Zofran 8mg. DO NOT TAKE ZOFRAN 8mg IF you are taking apomorphine. Tell your health care provider if you are taking any other medicines, especially cancer medicines (eg, cyclophosphamide) or tramadol. This may not be a complete list of all interactions that may occur. Ask your health care provider if Zofran 8mg may interact with other medicines you take. DO NOT START OR STOP any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions, including liver problems, a certain type of irregular heartbeat (QT prolongation, long QT syndrome), allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding. Tell your doctor if you have had an allergic reaction to another serotonin 5-HT3 receptor blocker (eg, dolasetron, granisetron). Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns about using Zofran 8mg.
Use Zofran 8mg exactly as directed by your doctor. ZOFRAN 8mg MAY BE STARTED BEFORE your cancer treatment or surgery. STORE ZOFRAN 8mg below 86 degrees F (30 degrees C) in a tightly-closed container, away from heat and light. KEEP ZOFRAN 8mg out of the reach of children and away from pets. CONTINUE TO TAKE ZOFRAN 8mg for the entire time recommended by your doctor even if you feel well. Do not miss any doses. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF ZOFRAN 8mg, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. DO NOT take 2 doses at once.
DO NOT TAKE ZOFRAN 8mg if you have had an allergic reaction to it, to any ingredient in this product, or to any similar medicine. DO NOT EXCEED THE RECOMMENDED DOSE or take Zofran 8mg for longer than prescribed without checking with your doctor. IF YOU EXPERIENCE NAUSEA OR VOMITING while using Zofran 8mg, check with your doctor. IF YOU EXPERIENCE difficulty breathing; tightness of chest; swelling of eyelids, face, or lips; or if you develop a rash or hives, tell your doctor immediately. Do not take any more doses of Zofran 8mg unless your doctor tells you to do so. Zofran 8mg may cause drowsiness or dizziness. DO NOT DRIVE, OPERATE MACHINERY, OR DO ANYTHING ELSE THAT COULD BE DANGEROUS until you know how you react to Zofran 8mg. Using Zofran 8mg alone, with other medicines, or with alcohol may lessen your ability to drive or to perform other potentially dangerous tasks. BEFORE YOU BEGIN TAKING ANY NEW MEDICINE, either prescription or over-the-counter, check with your doctor or pharmacist. FOR WOMEN: IF YOU PLAN ON BECOMING PREGNANT, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using Zofran 8mg during pregnancy. IT IS UNKNOWN IF ZOFRAN 8mg IS EXCRETED in breast milk. IF YOU ARE OR WILL BE BREAST-FEEDING while you are using Zofran 8mg, check with your doctor or pharmacist to discuss the risks to your baby.
SIDE EFFECTS that may occur while taking Zofran 8mg include headache, diarrhea, constipation, stomach pain, tiredness, or weakness. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you experience unusual eye movement. CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY if you experience temporary vision loss. AN ALLERGIC REACTION to Zofran 8mg is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, or trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist. This is not a complete list of all side effects that may occur. If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include temporary vision loss, severe dizziness, or slow or irregular heartbeat.
