My allergies were in the 1 to 2+ range so they weren't considered severe but they made me miserable with itchy rashes, watery/itchy eyes & ears, etc. It gave me relief!!! Then our insurance stopped approving it when Claritin came out over the counter which they said was Zyrtec's equivalent. Well, it isn't!! I was miserable for a couple of years trying to treat my allergy symptoms (nothing worked) when I asked my doctor [...] to try to arbitrate with the insurance to get me approved again since nothing was working at alleviating my symptoms. They did approve it and I was so glad and symptom free again. Then 3 months later, Zyrtec came out over the counter and I am so glad because now I can get it easily and can find deals on it. There is also a generic out now which I want to try to see if it works as well. I never had noticed drowsiness when I took it during the day but I know everyone is different but you can always take it at night. But I've been fighting a cold so my immune system is in overdrive, and my Allegra prescription had run out awhile ago. (Allegra is the only antihistamine that hasn't knocked me out.) I was desperate so I went to the pharmacy and bought a five pill package of Zyrtec. I took it at 1:30pm. It's now 7:40pm, and my allergy symptoms are worse than before. I'm in hell right now. Zyrtec soooo does not work for me. I just took a Children's Benadryl Chewable because I'm so desperate and we have nothing else in the house. I think it's already kicking in. It's only 12.5mg so I hope it doesn't knock me out. REVIEWS Reviewed by 108 customers Sort by Displaying reviews 91-100 Pros

Comments about Zyrtec Allergy, 24 Hour 10 mg Tablets, 45 ea: To reduce drowsiness, I cut a bit from each end of the oblong tablet. May be getting only 7-8 mg of the medication, but I find little difference in its effectiveness as an anti-Histamine. Pros

Comments about Zyrtec Allergy, 24 Hour 10 mg Tablets, 45 ea: Like all second generation allergy medications, Zyrtec is not effective for everyone. Competing products, like Clariton, don't work at all for me. I'm thrilled to have Zyrtec available OTC. The only side effect my family and I have noticed is somewhat dry sinuses, but not nearly as bad as with older, first-generation antihistamines. Pros

Comments about Zyrtec Allergy, 24 Hour 10 mg Tablets, 45 ea: Zyrtec works the best out of all of the allergy pills I have taken. I just wish it didn't make me drowsy! Like other reviews, I take it around dinner time to cover me for the evening, but I still feel somewhat drowsy the next day. I have started to alternate taking Alavert again to see if it will work again, but Zyrtec does work great for the allergy symptoms. I wish the pharamaceutical company could figure out how to get rid of the drowsy side effect or this would be the perfect solution to most allergy sufferers. Comments about Zyrtec Allergy, 24 Hour 10 mg Tablets, 45 ea: I used to take the prescription version of Zyrtec. This allergy season, I switched to the OTC early March and have been on it every day since. It does not work. I have the same symptoms as though I were not on any medication: sneezing, coughing, sniffling, sinus pain, watery/itchy eyes. Comments about Zyrtec Allergy, 24 Hour 10 mg Tablets, 45 ea: I wasn't sure on how to rate this because it did help my allergy symptoms, but it made my heart go into palpitations so bad that I had to take a beta blocker to stop. It was scary. Be careful if you are sensitive to medications like this. I have to stick with Alavert now. Comments about Zyrtec Allergy, 24 Hour 10 mg Tablets, 45 ea: Zyrtec works the best for me of all the allergy meds I tried. My only complaint is that it's now OTC - I much preferred when it was cheap thanks to my insurance Displaying reviews 91-100 ![]() |
