My allergies were in the 1 to 2+ range so they weren't considered severe but they made me miserable with itchy rashes, watery/itchy eyes & ears, etc. It gave me relief!!! Then our insurance stopped approving it when Claritin came out over the counter which they said was Zyrtec's equivalent. Well, it isn't!! I was miserable for a couple of years trying to treat my allergy symptoms (nothing worked) when I asked my doctor [...] to try to arbitrate with the insurance to get me approved again since nothing was working at alleviating my symptoms. They did approve it and I was so glad and symptom free again. Then 3 months later, Zyrtec came out over the counter and I am so glad because now I can get it easily and can find deals on it. There is also a generic out now which I want to try to see if it works as well. I never had noticed drowsiness when I took it during the day but I know everyone is different but you can always take it at night. But I've been fighting a cold so my immune system is in overdrive, and my Allegra prescription had run out awhile ago. (Allegra is the only antihistamine that hasn't knocked me out.) I was desperate so I went to the pharmacy and bought a five pill package of Zyrtec. I took it at 1:30pm. It's now 7:40pm, and my allergy symptoms are worse than before. I'm in hell right now. Zyrtec soooo does not work for me. I just took a Children's Benadryl Chewable because I'm so desperate and we have nothing else in the house. I think it's already kicking in. It's only 12.5mg so I hope it doesn't knock me out. REVIEWS Reviewed by 108 customers Sort by Displaying reviews 41-50 Pros

Comments about Zyrtec Allergy, 24 Hour 10 mg Tablets, 45 ea: This product worked great when I had hives that lasted for four months. Benedryl's effects would wear off after four hours and I'd wake up itchy, but with Zyrtec I could sleep through they night. I also recommend it to patients over Claritin of Allegra (I treat mostly acute allergy symptoms, and recommend Zyrtec when Benedryl's sedative effects will be problematic.) Pros

Comments about Zyrtec Allergy, 24 Hour 10 mg Tablets, 45 ea: I used Zyrtec tablets for years to control my allergies and constant perennial rhinitis. When insurance no longer covered this and it became available over the counter, I stopped using it due to pricing, since I was now paying for it. I've tried several other allergy therapies but had to come back to Zyrtec. Nothing works as well, in my opinion. Pros

I take it once a day before bedtime. I do experience some drowsiness for the first few days when re-starting useage each March. Pros Cons

Comments about Zyrtec Allergy, 24 Hour 10 mg Tablets, 45 ea: I found the generic version of Zyrtec at my hospital pharmacy for [$] per 100ct; that's a huge savings over the cost of the brand name version and it works equally as well. Pros

Comments about Zyrtec Allergy, 24 Hour 10 mg Tablets, 45 ea: I used to spend $60 a month on Allegra (which is a great product, but not yet OTC), because no other OTC allergy medication would work for me (at least not without side effects). Then I discovered Zyrtek and it not only worked wonderfully, I had no side effects from it, and it's reasonably priced! Now I spend $35 less each month, and as long as I take it every day (whether I'm having allergy symptoms or not, as I have year long allergies), I breathe great every day! I still take a couple others along with the Zyrtek in the summer (when they get really bad), but with Zyrtek, they never get as bad as they used to! Pros
